Argentine racecar company Baratec (Barattero brothers) and the Automóvil Club Argentino are launching a Super 2000-based rally class with shared mechalical parts and silhouette bodies. The VW Gol NF has been unveiled and the Fiat Punto is being developed. The Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Agile y Fiat Palio are also thought to be added. The goal is to involve "local" brands (those plus the French) in rallying in Argentina and Brazil with cheap, locally-produced cars with bodies of best-selling cars (the Lancer and Impreza are barely sold there).

The engine would be a spec inline-4 Honda 2.4L 280hp, the gearbox a sequential six-speed and several Subaru pieces (Barattero represents Subaru in Argentina).

Is it already known if Rally Argetina (WRC) or Rally de los Alerces (IRC) are part of Argentinian championship? It may be quite nice comparison with FIA S2000 cars

They're all saying that this car is already competitive against N4 and has lots of development potencial. Argentinian concept and production, with perspective of 4 manufactureus to get involved.

Main features: 285hp NA engine; 6 speed seq. GB; less 200KG than N4 and larger brakes.

A bold move from the argentinian federation - going otherwise than FIA - in order to restore the local entushiasm on rally courses. They did it right on the race field (TC2000) so we can only hope Maxirally will have a bright future.
