But R5 guys were the real heroes. Amazing performance from Bonato and Amourette on their DS3, always on the limit!
Even if the series point system undermines WRC driver’s title chances, it’s a shame that WRC cars are still admitted without a 30mm restrictor and RRC specs.
Btw, as always, nice coverage from rally-sport.fr

Seb Loeb with historic 306 Maxi destroyed all opponents in two decades newer cars in Rallye de Haute Provence winning 7 of 8 stages and the rally. Fanguiaire (Fiesta WRC), Stéphane Consani (Fiesta R5) or Margaillan (Fabia R5) didn't have a chance.

Sebastien Loeb has concretized a wish that he has been pursuing for some time: to line up at the start of a race at the wheel of the Peugeot 306 Maxi. Now the official driver of the Lion brand, the world champion of the rallies took advantage of the roads of the Rallye de Haute Provence to compete in the famous Kit-Car that had shone in the 90s with Gilles Panizzi and François Delecour.
On this appointment where he was co-driver by his wife Séverine, the Alsatian won on arrival, but admits not having had the easy part.
"The objective of this weekend was above all to have fun, and we can say that it is successful," recalls Loeb. The stages resembled what can be found on a Monte Carlo or a Var, with a good level of grip, on bumpy, fast and somewhat wide roads. It's typically the kind of profile where it's nice to drive a kit-car.
It was all the more fun because Eric Fanguiaire, the regional of the stage, gave us a good contrast with his Ford Fiesta WRC. We had to tear ourselves to be in front! It was in the sixth special of Esparron that we managed to make a difference: it was technical, with very fast portions downhill and I think I really rode well. "
Used to four-wheel drive since the Xsara WRC, Sébastien Loeb has found the steering of a two-wheel drive after making a few preparatory rounds. "Originally, I was not sure what to expect as to the performance level of the car. In the end, she is really healthy to fly, and goes great in the fast!
It is obviously necessary to type in, and to open trajectories to go for traction, but it is in no way vicious. I gradually managed to be finer in my driving, unless saturate the front end.
It is also that with my team, we fine-tuned the settings to erase the understeer which was suffering a bit at the beginning of the rally. In other words, I am particularly pleased with my new acquisition and I am already looking forward to relocating to my car. "
Find the report of the Rallye de Haute-Provence in the AUTOhebdo n ° 2106, available this evening in digital version and from this Wednesday in kiosks.

Tänak got 20 points closer to Evans, but as the main reason was a bad rally for Evans, I would say that Evans lost 20 points to Tänak, not Tänak gained. The point is, if the other one does not...
