LCCC Safari
The Light Car Club of Canberra will be running the 2009 LCCC Safari in Canberra on Saturday the 20th of June.
The event is a round of the PCD Engineering ACT Regional Rally Series and a round of the NSW Clubman Series.
Tristan and I will be running in the EVO and hopefully we will get a good seeding for the event.
On another note we have just pulled the pin on running at the famous Bega rally after receiving news on Friday after entries closed that the Shire road stages had been canned. This is a major feature of this event and quite a few top competitors have pulled their entry as well. We also were given a dreadful seeding which would have made it dangerous for us to compete.
Anyway we are looking forward to the LCCC Safari in 3 weeks time.

Looks like being a fully subscribed event. Plenty of interest in a compact event on good roads.
WE are going to have a big go and try to win it. Hopefully my incar camera's work this time and i can get some good footage.

Media Release:
Round five of the PCD Engineering ACT Regional Rally Series is the Light Car Club of Canberra Safari Rally this coming Saturday 20 June.
The Safari Rally is traditionally a popular event with ACT and NSW competitors, with this event contributing to both the PCD Engineering ACT Regional Rally Series and the CAMS NSW Clubman Series.
Thirty five cars ranging from the Mitsubishi Lancers and Subaru STI WRXs through to Datsun 180B’s and Mazda RX7’s will contest 140km of forest roads around Canberra, reaching speeds of up to 190km/h on dirt roads
Come and see the top ACT teams battle for outright honours. Can the Michael Barrett/Tim Batten Evo win consecutive Canberra events or will the all female crew of Cathy Donohue and Renee Jeffrey be able to pilot their Lancer Evo VIII victory and knock the boys off the podium.
Don’t think the action is just at the top end of the field. The battle for clubman and Novice points is also heating up. In clubman, Mike Behnke and Brett Southwell in a Honda Civic will be driving hard to challenge the Datsun Stanza of David Boyd and Julie Boorman for maximum points. In the novice series, only a round win separates the top four competitors, all of whom will be putting on a show at the spectator points as they side their cars around the left then right hand hairpins.
The event also has some local teenagers entered. Tristan Kent and Ray Baker will be an unknown entity in the challenge for outright honours. Tristan, only 17, has shown incredible pace in previous events but failed to finish, with his car breaking early in each event. Competing for the first time, Charlotte Hodgkin also 17, will navigate for Donna Moran in the “Bling Bling” Mazda 323.
Viewing the action is as easy as attending one of the three spectator points along the rally’s course. Spectator points are located at Deeks Car Park on Uriarra Rd, the infamous “Mineshaft” and at Cottage Five along Paddy’s River Road. Action commences at 1030 on Saturday at the first spectator point at Deeks Car Park.
The event will conclude at the Lanyon Vikings Club where spectators are encouraged to join their favourite teams for the celebrations and tales of what if’s.
For more information on how and when to see the action, or to volunteer to be an official and get up close to the cars and crew, visit Brindabella Motor Sport Club - Australian Rallying or contact [email:1qf61mv4]publicity@bmsc.com.au[/email:1qf61mv4]
Please peoples, if no one is doing anything Saturday we still need heaps of officials:
8 x Controllies
16 x Road Closures
2 x Spectator Marshals
Please contact us if you can help...
Please either contact the volunteers hotline on 0410 547 327, or email [email:1qf61mv4]lightcarclubofcanberra@gmail.com[/email:1qf61mv4]

Well another engine gone, 3rd fastest on the first stage, it started pingin about 1km into stage 2 so Tristan backed off. We were still 5th fastest but called it a day. Have to find out what the issue is, may be the Group A fuel pump setup that is leaning out when it gets hot.
Here's a good photo of Mikey from the Qwirx rally team going over the Mineshaft.
