Most Pointless Things in NASCAR
I shall start this off.
Anything the flag man does on the start/finish line. Especially that blue flag with the cross in it.
Yes, I know what that and all the other signals mean (most of them anyway) but how many drivers actually look and more important honest RESPOND to any that happens up there.
Yellow flag? Nah - radios and bit yellow flashing lights.
Green flag? Nah, radios.
Half way? Who really cares.
10 to go? Again, who cares. All that comes from the pit lane on the radio.
So, anything even more utterly pointless things in NASCAR?

It may be redundent, but it is traditional in all types of racing.
In addition;
Sometimes radios fail.
The feeder/short track/low budget racing leagues where the drivers came from didn't all have radios, they did all have flags.
What do you think the spotters are looking at when they yell GREEN GREEN GREEN?

Also also, I think the front guys go when they reach the point on the track where they are told to go at the driver's meeting, and everyone behind goes the moment the guy in front goes. But yes, the green/spotter thing is pretty important.
But what about the blue one? aha.......
But but, what about other stuff?

I don't see why they would want to eliminate it. I like the flags.
I think the lucky dog is pointless. All it does it cause excessive crashes between lapped cars, puts unworthy cars back on the lead lap just so they can clog things up and get relapped, and it lets the announcers have all sorts of fantasies about Kyle Busch getting his lead lap back after he loses it by being an idiot.
I'm sorry if I am being a bit snarky on the motorsports forums these days... most all my favorites are doing rather poorly these days. (See my sig...)N.Hayden L.Hamilton D.Earnhardt R.Gordon S.Speed T.Stewart J.P.Montoya G.Rahal Ferrari Lotus

Digger for sure. Double file restarts with the lapped cars on the inside. Sorry....you are lapped, go to the back of the lead lap cars, and then put everyone double file. Restarts with the first and second place cars would be a TON more interesting wouldn't they? With the lucky dog, we don't need some backmarker screwing up the top guys and allowing the leader to get that quick jump...
