it will put and end to the engine freeze
it may be cheaper to use ethanol
The V8s are debuting a cleaner, greener petrol using 85 per cent ethanol - called E85

Yes but with E85, fuel consumption went up considerably.

Of course F1 is supposed to be all about lightweight, and diesel engines are anything but that. I know it's a joke, but it's an interesting topic anyway

I would be all for it. Figure out how to take a much cleaner fuel and drive super high performance. P1 ALMS cars are far more interesting than F1 cars these days IMO, and that says a lot.

That said the 260 kW (350 bhp) restriction would be stupid.
But you wouldn't want to see a whole field of them.

And yes 350hp is the dumbest thing I've heard for a while. There needs to be at least 700hp IMO.

    Remember what date it is....???

Anyway why shouldn't Diesels be used? Sportscars, Touring cars use them - it would be interesting - a bit of variety would spice the competition up.

Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???

That was my first thought but then again I'm usually on high alert on 1st April, damn flatmates .

Regardless, if it is true it doesn't sit right. Small, efficient, massively turbocharged petrol engines are probably the way to go, which was a suggestion I saw being made a year or so ago.
