IIRC, in the first year IRC was called 'International...'. I wonder why they changed? Was it because of 'advice' from FIA or clever marketing by Eurosport, as 'intercontinental' is almost the same meaning as 'world'?

In the first year it was only a kind of cup in some rallyes of the european championship. It was the test to a new championship.

They are four hours earlier, so noon here (12 o'clock) would be 8 o'clock in Curitiba.

what are the predictions for this rally? will Team Tango with it's extensive PWRC experience be able to match the speed of IRC regulars? reviews say that the new lancer evo X has better handling and weight distribution than the previous one - it should be closer to s2000.

I don't think so. S2000 are nowdays much too strong for Subaru and Mitsubishi, even if it is called Evolution (known as X). Which is not good, they should be competitive. Ahh, FIA ...
