    Altenheimer - "always ran grp. 4 " ??

    Altenheimer - "always ran grp. 4 " ??

    Not Correct.

    Here's a for instance from 1975 :

    Sachs-Rally-Baltic 1975

There were 119 cars at start 31 cars retired.
The total distance of the rally was 1650km.
The weather was good and no accidents.

    General classification:
    1. Walter Smolej/Willi Peter Pitz - Opel Ascona Gr. 2
    2. Reiner Altenheimer/Hanno Menne Porsche Carrere RS Gr. 3
    3. Andrezej Jaroszewicz/Ryszard Zyskowski (Poland) Fiat Abarth 124 Gr. 4
    4. Holger Bohne/Franz Moormann - Opel Ascona Gr. 2
    5. Achim Warmbold/John Davenport - Renault Alpine Gr. 4
    6. Roger Ericson/Bruno Berglund (Sweden) Volvo 142 Gr. 2
    7. Hans-J. P. Herrmann/Konrad Schmidt Opel Ascona 19 Gr. 2
    8. Jan Glad/Per Nedergaard (Denmark) Opel Ascona 19 Gr. 2
    9. Rolf Petersen/Hans-Jürgen Wachholz Porsche 911 SC Gr. 3
    10. Jörgen Hansen/Keld Christiansen (denmark) Opel Ascona 16 Gr
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Altenheimer won the 1975 DE Rallyemeister title in a 2.7L car (1973 RS body looking car - Black / LM X 911) .

He ran group 3 this year (1975).

In 1976 at Monte Carlo (car #48/ finished 59th) . He ran this same black car , most likely in group 3.

Later in the year (the only other pics I have seen of him in 1976 , are from june at the Rally of Bulgaria / "Rally Zlatni Piassatzi") , his car by then was a Yellow Porsche G body RS 3.0 flair "look" (we do not know what it was under the skin).

It is VERY possible that the Yellow car is the Black car with updated bodywork (and possibly mechanical's also ?). We do not know.

A clue - look at RobertS's Photo from 1976 Zlatni . There is a engine displacement badge on the grill . Not only does it look like 2.7 to me . I believe porsche only made grill engine displacement badges up to 2.7 liter.

I know RS 3.0's , do not come with a engine displacement grill badge.

So the question is , is this another chassis , or the same 1975 (and earlier) season chassis ?

I'm guessing it is the Black car underneeth . The only strange thing is the Licence number change ( Black car - LM X 911 , Yellow - LM M 911) ?

    ----------------------
As far as the 1980 Tour d"europe # 3 car pic. It could very well be Altenheimer , just as likely as anyone else (and by recieving a #3 , we know it is someone well rated . Like a past winner - say like altenheimer.

Altenheimer has got TWO different PORSCHEs.

You know that in Germany it is impossible to change license-plates on a car that doesn’t change the owner.

Altenheimer drove in the "Rally Zlatni Piassatzi" (Rally of Bulgaria) following cars:
    1974 year - black/yellow with plate "LM-X 911"
    1975 year - black/yellow with plate "LM-X 911"
    1976 year - yellow with plate "LM-M 911"
    1977 year - yellow with plate "LM-M 911"
    1978 year - yellow with plate "LM-M 911"

    ************************************************** ******
The Porsche with plate "LM-X 911" (I don't know if this car was the same that Altenheimer drove 1974-1976) was driven by W. Rohrl at 1981 Piancavallo & Manx Rallies. The Porsche was white with Blue collor with main sponsor DODUCO.

    911carreraRSR,

Do you have a photo of Rohrl in LM X 911 at 1981 Piancavallo or Manx Rallies ? (if so, please post).

I believe I remember seeing a photo of Rohrl at a british rally in 1981 in a white porsche (RS 3.0 look). But I did not save it . And I do not remember seeing a licence plaque

    ------------------------------------------
    911carreraRSR:
"The Porsche with plate "LM-X 911" (I don't know if this car was the same that Altenheimer drove 1974-1976) was driven by W. Rohrl at 1981 Piancavallo & Manx Rallies. The Porsche was white with Blue collor with main sponsor DODUCO."

If you have a photo of Altenheimer at 1979 Zlatni , I would be interested in seeing that also.

Do you know for FACT that Altenheimer had 2 porsche's ? As another clue that makes me feel the black car & the yellow car are probably the same chassis. Is that in RobertS "1976" (you made a typo) Zlatni photo. See the whip antenna with large base on rear of roof ?

On Black car (LM X 911) at 1976 Rallye de Monte Carlo . The EXACT same antenna is on the car - in the exact same spot !
