Just to correct earlier post, a 1275 could possibly have run in Gp1 by April 64. It is a bit before the time I have direct knowledge of! The 64 Monte Carlo winning Cooper S was a 1071 but the 1275 and 970 were both homologated by April 64 in Gp2. Makinen won the Tulip rally in a 1275 in April 64 and I have actually seen a copy of the front page of the 970 homologation papers (but not the 1275) showing that Gp2 homologation was achieved in April. I am pretty sure I have seen other reference to both the 970 and 1275 being homologated at the same time. This was under the version of Appendix J that applied up to 31.12.65. The new Appendix J for 1966 had the same minimum production quantity of 1000 for Gp2 but now required 5000 for Gp1 when 1000 was the previous quantity. These quantities were not checked as closely as they would be now. It is quite possible that homologation (1000) was achieved in April 64 even if production only started in March! I have not seen direct evidence that the 1275 was homologated in Gp1 at the same time as well as Gp2 under the "old" Appendix J but it must have been at some point because Tony Fall made his name in a private 1275 Gp1 car in 1965 European Championship rallies.
It would have been the "dry" suspension - it was under the later Gp1 that only Hydrolastic was allowed (until a re-homologation later allowed it again in Gp2 but not Gp1)..
Alexander was one of countless small UK tuning firms of the period. Modifying it to Gp2 would not necessarily have meant full works spec (Downton engine) and would probably have been head and cam and 1.5 inch SUs in place of 1.25inch. The front panel should show signs of being cut and turned inwards to form the bottom mounting for the oil cooler. Cars fitted with it as standard later on would show a neater fitting.

I made a mistake on my 1st post ,the car was built in may 1964 no march and the oil cooler is mounted on the motor beneath the generator not on the front panel ,it does look like a bmc instalation. once again I apricciate your replys and knowledge .thank you. It has been dificult to gather info from over seas about the little car. I hade a chance to review some of the paper work I got with car and I states the car was also raced thru the 1965 season In Germany as G2 .

Yes, that is race spec, not rally. Even on tarmac the works rally cars would not have used a 648 cam with a 3.9 diff!
