Chaparral 2E. I was a kid when it came out and that wing was amazing!

    I forgot to mention:

    Sauber C9
    Nissan 88 GTP

Oh how I loved the GTP/Group C Days!

BTW, Has anyone seen a model of the Mazda RX7-92P? I have many of my favorite cars in 1/43 & 1/18 scale, but I have never seen the 92 Mazda....

I have the molds for a 1/24th scale 92P and for a 1/43rd scale. i've built both from scratch only for a one off car. I've done the cars as a single wing and as a double wing. one without the snorkle and one with. Both of these cars were built as a gift to Pete Halsmer for being the best man at my wedding. I promised him that these cars won't be built again. Sorry....

    IMSAFan,

That is very cool that you made models of the Mazda. Not only did that car look great, but the sound was amazing!

Does anyone still race these cars on the vintage circuit? I would love to see one rip around the race track again.

    Thanks,

    Ben

are you guys referring to this car that ran in 1992

Brian France is a violation of Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing)

No, but that car is sweet too.

I believe the car in the picture is the Jaguary XJR-15 chassis fitted with the Mazda motor. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

The car we were talking about ran only in IMSA during the 1992 season.

Here is a link to a Mazda 787 website. If you scroll all the way down to the bottom, they have a couple pictures of the 1992 IMSA car.

That Mazda Is An Xjr-14. The Tamiya 787b Kit Is Not Correct. Easy To Fix Though. The Motor That Was In The Rx7-92p Is The Same As The 787b. The Earlier Version Of The Le Mans Mazda That Raced In The Imsa Class Was Alot Nicer. Efr Has A Model Of One That I Built Sitting In His Office. Be Careful When Building The 91 Version As Mazda Didn't Run The Wheel Covers For The Whole Race.
