Yes....today Solberg is here in the North Sardinia, to another comparative test between Impreza 06 and 07, like every year before Mexico.

Some Sardinian roads look similar to Mexican ones, so Subaru every year uses these roads for pre-Mexico tests.

I saw some pics taken by some friends of me that were there and the two Imprezas look rather different outside, esepcially in the front side, but above all inside. The engine is very different even simply looking at it.

The boy who took the photos I wrote about showed me them in his notebook but as we met by chance we hadn't a cd or a usb pen to download them.

We'll meet again this weekend during a National Rally, so I'll be able to post them next Monday.

However the photos posted by ewrc.cz are rather expressive.

    Ive got a theory...

Perhaps there is a camera there somewhere too that watched the ground in front of the wheel. They may take note of the road infront of the wheel and how the suspension setup handles the actual road surface.

    Merit there?

Correvit make a range of sensors that use light as the key measuring tool.

    http://www.corrsys-datron.com/Suppor...d_SFII-P_e.pdf

i used Correvit light sensors for years testing road cars, but haven't used this latest generation of tool.

a lot of the general test stuff moved from light to microwave sensors a few years ago, and now VBox uses satellite navigation to do a similar job (it can measure the minimal height differences from when you open the door, for example).

however the light sensors are still the most accurate to the most decimal places.

they can be used for distance, time and acceleration, obviously, and that can link back to another CAN bus to trace the line used by the car on any given piece of road.

not being able to see the unit, i can't tell you what it is exactly, but i'd be pretty sure it would be something like this.

Who is this Donnelly? He is fast!
Ok, he knows the roads but the Subaru is not the Focus.
    Impressive.
