"A golden opportunity with the C3 WRC"
    December 14, 2017

The practice sessions are always a source of surprises for both the teams and the spectators. This week in the Hautes-Alpes, Alexandre Coria, co-pilot since 2015, had the incredible opportunity to climb alongside Kris Meeke in the C3 WRC for a test session.

Arrived as a spectator in the early morning with a friend, Alexander quickly learned the unavailability of Paul Nagle, usual copilot of Kris Meeke, blocked in London because of inclement weather. Asked by Sandrine Carminati, responsible for closing the roads on these tests, the name of Alexander was quickly mentioned in the Citroën clan.
Former participant in the JWRC alongside Vincent Dubert, Alexandre had already been able to rub shoulders with the Citroën Racing family and the green light was given to him around 13h after some formalities.
"Before starting the first runs, the team explained the operation of some buttons in case of problems. My role in the afternoon was to accompany Kris on every run to have an identical performance base throughout the day. Although he did not need any notes because he knew the base very well, we had some technical exchanges, especially about tires and conditions.
If the conditions were very wet, we still had a feeling of Monte Carlo with very cool temperatures and fog at the end of the day. We were able to ride with all the tires offered by Michelin.
Kris is a frankly very approachable and friendly guy, I quickly became confident with him. I quickly understood why he was one of the fastest drivers in the championship. Regarding the car, I was really impressed by the efficiency of the chassis, it seems that there is no limit, the car seems very bright to what I knew ( the R5 in particular). As for the impression of power and brakes, it was less impressive than the chassis, but it was still magical. In the end, we made about fifteen runs and more than 80 kilometers. It was really a fantastic and unforgettable day. Alexander told us after this day.
Descended from this Citroen C3 WRC after a dreamy afternoon, Alexandre will find more usual cars in 2018 with a program in France.

Tänak: "Monte test was in difficult conditions, it was hard to understand the car. Those conditions didnt give me whole picture about the car and if you look at it, the technical solutions are little bit different: active diffs, mechanical diffs and geometry. The car is built with different perspective in mind which isnt bad, it is positive but the car is handling differently and we have to test more to understand how i exactly have to drive it. But in general the first impression is positive, it is not a difficult car to drive"

You'd hope Citroen get their asses over there for some proper testing too. A day each for Meeke and Breen probably isn't going to cut it.
