This cars were never planned to compete with R5 cars, but to replace group N Mitsubishis and Subarus.

It is impossible to track correctly WRC/R5/S2000/S1600/R2 cars, with R4 it will be very similar...

But problem with this project is that manufacturers are not interested in it. And Skoda was one of the teams which were fighting against R4 as they dont want that some private build cars will start...

I think we will see some R4 cars in ERC next year ;)

Eurosport was trying to have R4 in ERC2 also for 2018, but it was refused by FIA. We will see what will happen for 2019. There are some teams interested in doing ERC with R4 next year...

I dont agree with you. Comparison with S2000 is not the best, because you are talking about same cars in category. R4 was from beginning thought as lower class than R5, it should be a step between R5...

Older version of R4 for Mitsubishi and Subaru was bad way. It helped to modify some parts, but in basic it was still group N car and other parts were not dimensioned for other stronger parts...

I have heard rumours that Oreca asked FIA to increase this basic price 108 000 euro...

Also not cheap...

From beginning I told that Oreca is not the best way. Or completely the way how FIA is going with direct offer to one company. It should be more cheaper than presented version...

Proto cars from Dytko are different than official R4 kits from FIA...

Oreca was from beginning only one supplier, directly asked by FIA...

The idea of FIA is to make a rule, which allow to make a "kit", which you should be able to use in different cars...
