I would normally think of privateers as any non-factory team, regardless of driver. Of course using that logic M Sport is a strange case as was Citroen's season with Kronos.

Manfred Stohl made the podium on the three final events of 2006. Third in Australia and New Zealand and second in the UK. In a 307, no less.

It's nice to see him get another chance but on DMACKs I don't know how much of an impact he could make. Then again maybe it's designed to be an intermediate step between R5 and WRC.
