Agreed. Except that I think they can still buy Meeke out of his contract or put him in a third car alternating with Lefebvre.
Meeke's behaviour was very strange when he realized the car is not going any further. He didn't get mad, he didn't rush out of the car to inspect the damage or call for someone to push the car. He just sat calmly in his seat, not saying anything, barely making an expression. It seemed like he realized it was a very crucial mistake.
I don't think it matters at this point. Meeke has shown many times he can be faster than anyone, consistency is the problem. Being fastest after crashing doesn't help. If he managed say 4th place and stay on the road Matton would imo be more happy than crash and then winning every single stage.
That depends on road position as well. Anyway advantaged or not, Meeke is a fast driver, and he probably wants to be faster anywhere, anytime, that is the problem. He can't manage the risk level when the risk is high, trying to be inch perfect at that fast corner with concrete inside wasn't very prudent.
Thank fuck that didn't happen to Neuville (again) or Ogier tonight. Would've been a horrible way for the championship to potentially be decided. We have too many of these horrible little super special stages in the WRC nowadays imo. Even some "proper" Sunday stages are no more than Mickey mouse stages. I miss the days of a whole days rallying on a Sunday
