Surely the opportunity to grow the sport (your brand) trumps making a few extra Euros? Obviously not.
I wouldn't be so harsh. From leg1 road position he got a 15 second advantage/lead. On leg 2 with equal road position he increased the lead by another 10 seconds. I'd agree with you about road position advantage, if the entire leg1 had been run and he would had got a 40 second lead from the gravel stages.
You can see the car was the owner's baby. With plastidipped rims and decals, tinted windows, etc. the nicest car on the lot. He's partially at fault for parking so close to the road. I'm always astounded at the stupidity of spectators standing on outside of corners but apparently the organizers aren't much smarter allowing spectator presence there.
This is my first post so let me introduce myself. My name is Kris (Krzysztof to be exact). I'm Polish and have spent the latter half of my life living in the States. Been following rallying since the 90's with Holowczyc and his group A Toyota Celica and later Subaru Impreza followed by Janusz Kulig's ERC performance until his unfortunate death in 2004.I was aware of WRC since early 2000s. Skipped majority of the Loeb's era as I didn't find it interesting and came back to it with Kubica's appearance at the WRC stage. Love playing rally games on PC with ColinMcRae 2005 being my first and most played game back in the day. I currently have RBR installed in multiple versions and Dirt Rally. Even though it's too late for a full fledged rally career I'd love to take part in a few local rallies at some point in my life, time and money permitting ;)
After Kubica's departure I started cheering for Kris Meeke (he's been a good friend of Kubica and always spoke warmly of him, he's also been involved in the development of Dirt Rally and I hope he'll be able to make the game as close to the real thing as possible). I like the Hyundai's performance thus far as well minus the luck they've had.
Congrats to Meeke. I'm glad he won.
As for driving efforts, I presume Sordo should have won this, giving 110 of himself most of the time. May be this will be his season?!? Who knows....
