Diesel Class - R3D
I am picking this theme up from another thread, and giving it its own.
Diesel has won Le Mans 24 hrs, and it it the engine most of us use.
Using the new Gr R regs, and adding R3D for Diesel would make a sensible start.
The german HJS series uses Gr N regulations, and that is another option.
I think Diesel in rally is a good idea, if not for the top classes, then as a option for drivers to choose.
R3D is something FIA could look closer into.
What do you think ?

But if You make proper rulles, R3D is than N4 or A8 car because turbo coefficient is 1,7. Why should we forget it for diesel? That's the same like in Le Mans, normaly aspirated petrol units are up to 6 liters, turbocharged up to 3,5 but diesel could be 5,5 bi-turbo. Making rulles suitable to someone is not a fair game...

As long as they are not quiet engines then I am all for it. There was a diesel BMW 1-series competing in the British/Irish championships last year, and it is very difficult to hear it at all, which I think is very dangerous (especially as it usually runs near the back of the field when spectators are likely to be on the move).

Rules and less silencing is peanuts, if diesel gets momentum.
Are there more local or regional Diesel cups going in other countries than Germany:http://www.hjs-motorsport.de/english/home.php
Would be interesting to see the rules for those series.
