The route will be announced 6th March. The organizers have said before there will be less (but some) chicanes, and today's annoucement says the route should be more tailored to the modern WRC cars. Also it's revealed that the route will go to the Äänekoski and Laukaa areas, thus most likely having the same stages as 2017 Friday afternoon. Laukaa and Lankamaa would have a slightly lower average speed anyway.

Rumor has it that there's no Ouninpohja this year, instead something like the Kakaristo stage from 2008/2014. In fact, no surprise considering the average speeds of that stage, 135 km/h last year even with three chicanes

i dont remember if i have been on Saalahti but if they keep Ruuhimäki as a power stage i would be very happy....it is an great stage.
Saalahti isen't very good in my opinion, not for video at least.
Muurame was better and would be cool to see these cars at the sideways jump!
Ruuhimäki would be a terrific choice for PS. With all the jumps the stage is pretty much a definition of what the "1000 Lakes" is all about.

Nothing confirmed yet. I'm 99% sure Ouninpohja is not driven, but the Kakaristo 2008/2014 version instead. You will have the sideways jump and the Kakaristo junction, but not the yellow house jump. Also, I'm fairly confident Urria will be out of the itinerary, as it's one of the fastest stages. Jukojärvi, I'd say 50/50 chances.Quote:

Harju is again the super special, driven on Thursday at 18:42 and Friday at 20:30, which indicates a long Friday full of stages, like 2017.
The route is announced tomorrow 10 AM, with a stream on the rally's facebook page and www.ruutu.fi

RG1 will be published weeks later, but what they've told so far is the route this year is 65% different compared to last year - yet only SS Pihlajakoski is identical to 2017, so 65% can't included changes of running direction. 40% are roads not used since 1997.
New shakedown stage too in Vesala, Kuohu, similar distance from Jyväskylä as is Ruuhimäki.
Absolutely satisfied with this route. Time schedule is so that doing 3-4 stages a day takes effort, but maybe settling for quality over quantity this year.

Ok I trust you if you say great but at the first look it seems the stages are too spread out.
Having a detailed look in an hour.
I judge the route by how much of a challenge it provides to the competitors = new to spectate for us. On day basis Friday is a bit spread out, others not so. We have to get used to traffic jams again, though this schedule doesn't make such situation what we faced last year on Friday. People trying from Päijälä to Tuohikotanen on Saturday might generate some jams.Quote:

Just had a more detailed look at the route and i agree that it looks great...i just had some stages mixed up in my head and thats why at first i thought it isnt good (for example i mixed up Pihlajakoski and Jukojärvi and thought what the hell).
can anyone give me google maps link about Vesala? the one i find cant be right because it is close to Helsinki and the other location is in Helsinki.

Also good to mention, official spectators' guide will be published for the first time in Urheilulehti Magazine. It's well available, but I think it must be purchased together with the day's Ilta-Sanomat newspaper - not sure, people more interested in sports in general would know.
