AutoCross
That is different from what we call Autocross in Britain. Our Autocross is racing between four cars on a circuit marked out on a grass field.
What you've posted is a sort of weak version of sprinting. This is autocross

Crashfarmer, what you have posted is what is known in the US as Autocross or Solo. What MrJan has posted is known in the US as RallyCross. There are many clubs in America which hold Solo events and RallyCross also. The SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) also has a national championship for Solo held in Lincoln Nebraska each year. You can check out SCCA here: www.scca.org.
Here Solo (autocross) is run for time on a paved surface (usually, but not always, a large parking lot). RallyCross is the same but on dirt or gravel surface. Check the link I provided above and you'll find examples of both. I realize it is confusing when you switch terminology from country to country.
I always try to catch it when I go to the Goodguys Lonestar Nationals in Dallas. Its fun to watch.

I don't think it's a country to country thing, I know of many countries that use autocross to mean the same thing it does in the UK. Also the US is the first place I've heard of that decides to have RallyCross and rallycross to mean two different disciplines. Seems like the SCCA are trying to make it intentionally confusing.
