S2000 summary
Webzine, rally.com.au reports that the Britek Motorsport built Fiestas have achieved FIA homologation for competition in the Asia-Pacific region. The article also hints that the Auris (Corolla) homologation is not too far away.
http://www.rally.com.au/home/latestnews/articleid=3017
Why would the Auris be homologated if it is being fully FIA homologated in South Africa, this application is already in and as far as i know virtually complete.
Good question! The article only hinted at the Auris homologation. It may have even been referring to the homolgation emanating from South Africa, though the cars currently running in Australia were developed independently, AFAIK. If it is a separate homologation it does seem redundant.Quote:

IIRC, several years ago there were three separate homologations of the same VW Golf model on that year's homologation list. One in Germany, one in South Africa and one in China!!! There was a notation next to the latter two stating that such cars could only be used within their respective regions.
Im not really up to date with the ins and outs of FIA homologation, but do understand that SA given the go ahead by Toyota Japan to acquire the full FIA homologation.Quote:

For now an embryonic site for the Corsa, I guess more will come:

There isnt special page for Antibes - so, Bryan Bouffier will start there with Proton Satria S2000 - http://www.autosport.cz/clanek.php?cl=7309
Woooooooooooooooooooow,Bouffierski with a Proton!!!
That will show the true potential of the car
Gareth MacHale may use an Opel Corsa S2000 as course car on Cork 20

If VW is coming into WRC with Scirocco, where will that leave the Polo S2000 ?
Polo is still a private initiative from South Africa. Why couldn't they compete next to eachother: one in PWRC and one in WRC?Quote:

Info from Toyota Motor Compnay, Japan.
In the case of the Australian car, regional homologation means it can be used in FIA events within Asia-Pacific. For 2009 this includes all rounds of the APRC and the Australian and Japanese (if on the calendar) rounds of the WRC. Source: Garry Connelly (Australian delegate to FIA World Council).Quote:

15 sold kits will be amazing if it is the truth !

There is a rumour that Czech gentleman driver Karel Macek bought Corolla S2000...
FIAT will replaces the Sadev gearbox by an X-Trac, also the suspension is improved.

The Corolla is a lot of car for the money. Will be interesting to see how competitive he will be, and I do not know how good the driver is....
The driver is just a tourist. The car may be fast only if being rented to any fast driver :)
i suppose the car is not new...and...was bought in South Africa or Australia?
SA
The car looks nice in a tarmac setup.
Hope this is just the beginning of buying Corollas.
At some part it will surely be rented to a fast(er) driver so we can see how good is it
So it was not the one from RED UK on sale here ?Quote:

Still pitty there is no Auris available, this is much more interesting for importers!
Macek's Corolla is bought from RSA. The car is completely built in RSA (LHD in tarmac configuration).
