I agree, yes he has a good car and good road position to start with. But he performed poorly in Poland and Toyota is a distant third in the championship... And with the team having one driver who sadly has a bit of a tendency for sudden stops in stages, I feel Toyota would be wanting him to actually finish at Finland as it's very important for points, but also development of the car.
Going for a podium, which could potentially impact JML's ability to fight for the championship, is a risky move, especially given how early he is in his career in a WRC car.
Well logical, but Rally Finland+ local drivers+ local team+ most of the development km`s done there+ unlimited amount of testing any time they want+ "development year, no aims in the championship" (yes-yes :) ). Seems the best place for all the team do have theri best event ever...definitely competition won`t make it so easy.

how has the summer been there? lakes warm enough to swim?
and mosquitoes happily flying around biting us foreigners?
Chilly. I heard on the radio news that it's the coldest beginning of the summer since 1974. But not much mosquitos. The long-term forecast is giving 10-20 C and some rain for the rally weekend, but of course that's subject to change.

It was announced today that Vetomies race has a shorter version of Päijälä stage. I drew the stage in google maps and the taking away the small road section at the end matches exactly to the new length. Maybe they're worried that the small road will get in too bad condition?
