Wow, looks like everything we've been asking for...as long as sound and handling match up. Like the idea of early access to allow fans to get involved and, hopefully, be able to improve the game during the polishing stage. Sadly my laptop (work issued) isn't even close to being up to the job of running it.
Watched this for a bit on Twitch last night and it looks really good, especially if it's just an early release and will be polished over time. Sounds great and looks like the guys were finding it hard work...best of all though is that the stages are reasonably narrow and a good design. Although to be fair, I think that some of the DiRT 3 DLC was moving in that direction, especially the Monte Carlo stage that was released.
The more I see, the better it looks. The stage design is what many of us have been crying out for since rally game year dot. I'll be absolutely crushed if this doesn't come out on console, I simply can't legitimately spend the money on a decent enough PC to support this game properly.
Same with me sadly :(
This video of the Stratos at night is just incredible!

I want this game for PS4 !!!!!!!! :D
Guys please go to this link, and vote for a console version.
http://forums.codemasters.com/discus...y-on-consoles?
My understanding is that they are using the pc guys as "guinea pigs" to solve the major issues and add more content and then when the main release happens in the last quarter of the year they will be releasing it for the consoles. I've seen more than one place where they have confirmed that it will come for consoles but just not yet. Maybe later in the early access period they'll release it in order for some to try and iron out the bugs on the them too.
People keep going on about the sound but my main complaint at this point would be that the Impreza and Delta Intergrale don't sound anything like the real life cars. Also from videos it seems like all the cars sound underpowered or 1300cc versions of the cars, they don't sound like they're accelerating very quickly.
I've downloaded this anyway, and just have to run a very, very stripped back version to enable my computer to cope. The trouble is that my controller is as old as the hills and very cheap, so I'm still struggling a lot with the handling and finding it difficult to get through a stage in one piece and quicker than the clubman cars! Think I may spend the money on a dealy so that I can use a 360 controller rather than one that still has just a D-pad.
Love the stages (even if some of the Monte ones seem familiar from DiRT 3's DLC) and the way that cars handle under power. Only real negative that I've found is that sometimes you hit a tiny bump at 40mph and it throws you off the edge of the world.
Steering is very sensitive and FFB is quite crap. Definitely potential though, but far far away from a proper sim.
Different people, different wishes then I guess. I only ever drive sims, I'd love a full blown rally sim.
DiRT Rally is still a fun game though, there's a file which improves the FFB quite a bit. My main issues are the tarmac physics which are way off and the fact it's possible to brake extremely late.
By the way, Kevin Abbring has been playing it quite a bit and has set some fastest times on the 'Daily challenge' events. Here's an onboard with him in an M3 on Sweet Lamb:

Wish I could play it too :(
My point about a 100% simulation is that you would never be anywhere close to competitive or good enough...unless you're a WRC class driver. I just don't think that a super real game is going to be that interesting, even for those that frequently say they want an all outsim.
I wonder if we'll have Toyota Rally Pack..? (Celica, Corolla, Yaris, and GT86)
I have an all out SIM, it's called my rally car:) Getting used this weekend as well:)

Initial impressions- Looks the part, the stages look very nice and the draw distance is very far. The physics and ffb still need a LOT of work though, too much grip, traction, not enough weight inertia/momentum, you can merely change down without braking for about 90% of the corners... brakes are also too effective.
Lets hope they are able to make it a RSRBR beater, they have a lot to do yet tho..

About 7:34 to 13:40 is one of the DiRT Rally stages. :)
Just got a new graphics card and this and I have to say I am having a blast. For me as of now the only problem is the lack of any recent rally cars, plus the Fiesta WRC and the Mini have really outdated models. I read the Codies will have an R5 pack by October, and that is hugely exciting.
The stage design is very good, I think Greece and GB have the most exciting stages to drive in, they feel so realistic.
