What do you think of the new "qualify on Saturday, set your position on Sunday" format? My initial reaction is that it is a reasonable approach to creating entertainment with only 33 or so entrants.

In my view this is more lipstick on a pig. Fix the pig.
Fuel allotment = X
Car Width = X
Car length = X
Car weight w/o driver = X
Tire size = X
ANY engine
fuel cell size unlimited
no wing restrictions
Go racing!
Agree with the exception of fuel cell size. That's a safety consideration since these cars race on high speed ovals. Different from the F1 formula.Quote:

The new format was interesting but I preferred the old system of two weekends. We're probably going to be stuck with this for awhile since the engine makers won't cough up more than 33 engines, so it's best to learn to like it.
The race certainly looks like it's going to be interesting enough.
Personally I never thought two weekends was the best format. Lots of drama and good for the (at the time) TV hours and hours of programing. Still, IMO, it didn't bring anything special to the package.Quote:
