5 british teams in the Knockout stages of the CL. are you scared Pino and the rest? the british are coming to snatch the CL off everyone else and that rubbish team called Barca :D :p :
Great game at St James's Park tonight, capped off by a cracking Emre goal.
Arsenal and Porto both needing a draw to progess, 0-0 draw. Fancy that!
Cant wait for the Chelski Arse game this sunday, hopefully itll be a thriller, on current form Chelski should easily win. Still remains whether to be seen if Mr Henry will be playing, if indeed ever again for Arsenal.
What does everyone think of the current take over talks surrounding my beloved Liverpool? Personally Id rather there not be any mega rich owners pouring millions into clubs just to turn them into a brand, but whilst everyone else is at it I dont see why we shouldnt dip in.
I don't think Henry is playing this Sunday..but never again for Arsenal??Thats goin' a little too far I think...Quote:

As for the takeover talk, i think its a formality for a team in the premiership now to be taken over by multi millionaires :p : but i dont think it wil do liverpool much harm, i think it could be a good boost for the club, it might just help win the premiership one season as well :p :
Sorry mate but this year Lyon will win, they are the best Team in Europe at the moment ! They will beat Chelsea in the final :p :Quote:

Real are playing some decent stuff this time round with Ronaldo scoring goals again and defensively they are better. ( :s )
Best or not, I notice that Lyon are always rated as the biggest outsider in the CL, but surprisingly enough they never get further than the quarter finals. I won't be surprised if they don't make it this year, but they defenitly deserve it.Quote:

just a bit of good news (as far as i'm concerned) you may remember a month or 2 ago that Sol Davis, the Luton full-back suffered a stroke on the way to the game with Ipswich, which we subsequently lost 5-0.
However, after some time in hospital, and estimates that if he were able to come back it would take at least 6 month, Sol has returned to training and completed a full session with the team this week.
glad to see him making a speedy recovery
Surprised no one has mentioned this so far, although maybe it was on the old forum.
Did anyone see Ronaldinhos free kick in the Champions League the other week? Have you ever seen anything in football crafted with such genius? The mans a god.
Vamos Blaugrana!!! :D
Beat you to it Bezza ;)
Good bit of action today is Les Premiership, Liverpool won 4-0 of course in the most important game of the day :D
Just seen an after match interview with stuart pearce, obviously upset his Man City got beat 3-1 by Manyoo, but more interesting was when the interviewer asked his opinion on Corradi's 2nd yellow for diving. Pearce said 'absolutely fantastic decision, and Ill be having a word with him this week about staying on his feet'.
Now that is what we need more of if football is ever going to stamp out diving and cheating.
Well I am happy for a change, 5-1 is a nice score :D
An honourable mention goes a Mattie Taylor of Portsmouth for his stunning volley against Everton. I've seen people lob goalkeepers from that distance, and I've seen Ivan Campo score from a similar length with a daisy cutter, but I've never seen anyone strike one on the volley from that far out. Phenomenal.
Just seen it on MOTD, great goal. :up:Quote:

On the Matty Taylor Goal, Pure Genius, i dont think you will ever see a better volley hit than that, fantastic. :)
Oily... do me a favour and pop down the turrets will you? If you could just install some anti-sven devices around the ground - just in case the blighter tries to sneak in and take residence in Mr Pardews vacant office.
Don't panic old chap I just heard on radio 5 from none other than Svens agent that he will NOT be joining The Hammers.Quote:

Perhaps if messrs Reo Coker, Harewood and Zamora had shown the same enthusiasm on the park as they clearly do in various gents outfitters and trendy London fleshpots we'd be a lot higher in the table and Pardew would still have a job to go to.
I'm not alone in my opinion either. I've just come from the unofficial Hammers forum and the place is seething with rage at the new owners and awash with sympathy for Pardew who is widely perceived as being let down by his players.
Well it's Man u at home next week and I guarantee you that most if not all of the 2 bob lightweights and show ponies that have disgraced the shirt recently will give the performance of their lives as they bask in the limelight which the so called "glamour fixtures" bring.
A well it's a fait accompli now so who next for the poisoned chalice.?
For me I can't see beyond Alan Curbishly, a local boy and ex hammer (sadly I'm old enough to have seen him in his pomp :( ) a well respected tactician and man manager who worked wonders at Charlton on a limited budget and a pretty mediocre set of players TBH.
Some of the boys are talking up Terry Venables on the website. Again a good choice but may prove unpopular with a section of the fans due to his "Spuds" connection.
As far as I'm concerned as long as the new incumbent turns us round and makes a few decent signings in the January window I dont mind who gets it.
Arsene Wenger being the honourable exception ;) Blimey I've just gone all cold :(
Yes, Whinger is so special! :laugh:Quote:

So who are we tipping to be the new manager of West Ham. Grahme Souness perhaps??
Can't say I am excited by the prospect of Curbishley being the guv'nor. I'm not convinced he has got the pedigree to actually take an average club forward. He never did it at Charlton. At least AP had a vision - it's just a pity that the players thought that last years success meant that they can rest easy this year. How wrong they are being proved.
I never believe players or managers when they rule themselves out of a potential transfer or appointment to management. Sven can rule himself out all he likes but I bet he still gets a phone call from Egg!
Oily, the Beeb website still seems to suggest that Sven is in the running for the post of manager..I think that should make you freeze.
As someone who has always liked West Ham (wee apart from Bowyer) I hope they get out of this mess soon. Tevez has been working hard IMO.
I think I watched too much of football over the weekend and ended up with an upset tummy due to lack of sleep. :(
On saturday a bit of Premiership action and then late night saw
Barcelona defeat Real Sociedad 1-0 and then a pretty good Sevilla come from behind to win against Madrid :D ..Although that meant I slept at 430 AM :s
On sunday eve did see the Stamford Bridge game and got to say Chelsea played superbly for the last 15 mins after they went a goal down....great goal by Essien and they almost got 1 or 2 more!
Stormy I was having a pretty good day until you said that mate :(
You're spot on about Senor Tevez BTW. The boy's been a shining beacon of quality and endeavour in what thus far has been a sea of dross.
Don't reproach yourself over your lack of love for Mr Bowyer mate I was at a match the other day and his mum was throwing coins at 'im ;)
Sorry oily one more bad news for you : Juventus Team Manager Secco, is in London trying to sign Mascherano ;)
Don't forget that Arsenal had to play with a defense whos average age was 21, due too many injured players unavailable... I was impressed by Arsenal, not Chelsea :p :Quote:

Good choice IMHO.
East End boy born in Canning town, came through the Hammers youth team to become one of the finest players to wear the shirt.
He's got the club in his blood and will have the fans backing which is a massive bonus for a new boss.
Let's not forget that when he took over Charlton they were a division 2 outfit with no ground and no prospects and he somehow managed to turn them into a more than useful Premiership outfit until lack of ambition from the Charlton board brought about their current plight.
Anyway let's hope that the board give the guy a decent crack of the whip with a few bob to spend on players come the January sales.
PS If the board hadn't got rid of Harry none of this would have happened.
He must be laughing his proverbials off.
Amen to that.Quote:

Delightful pun I heard the other day on Sky Sports News - Sven's agent said he wasn't interested in the job, as he had other irons in the fire. <groan>
Well, Alan Curbishley will soon be announced as the West ham manager according to BBC Sport, i know he didnt quite get it right with Charlton, but i hope he can turn things around for the Hammers, because its such a sad sight to see the Hammers down the bottom after playing in one of the great FA Cup finals just a few months ago. :(
Disgusted Pards was sacked. The WHUFC board had the nerve to sack the manager after one or two mildly bad results when one or two teams last season in the Premiership were close to going the whole season without seeing a win. West Ham's new owner should think himself luck the run wasn't longer.
