Tricky conditions at Rali Serras de Fafe, Portuguese season opening. Heavy rain on Friday night stages and rough terrain caused many mechanical problems and retirements. Four guys stand out from competition: Moura (Fiesta) lead on earlier stages but retired with broken transmission; Campos (Fabia) catch 1st place until a steering pump leak slow him down to 3rd; Fontes (DS3) managed to avoid troubles and got his first gravel win, despite a final charge from Meireles (Fabia). Very few 2wd crews but a close fight between 208’s young drivers Gago and Lopez (back by Peugeot Spain). Our guy beat the Spaniard, that wasn’t able to finish (engine failure). Barbosa (Evo 10) survive to be first in Gr.N and Merceano (Evo 8) easily won national gravel cup field. Next round: Rali Castelo Branco (22-23 April).
