I think you should add Arctic Lapland Rally - Tunturiralli to the poll. They were already on the way to 2012 IRC calender but organizers didnīt want to pay the fees.

+ As a Finnish competitor I really much want to see it in the 2013 ERC calender

Also, the Dutch championship allows WRC etc in their rally's. So the rally should have to a) choose b) organise 2 rallies c) competitors should hire an other car for 1 rally in a year. I don't see any of these 3 happening

That's exactly the same with Ypres in the Belgian championship. I don't think it will be a big problem for the top Dutch drivers, this year in Sulingen (Germany) there were Kuipers, van Merksteijn, Wevers, Swaanen all in non-WRC cars.

But still it would be totally unrealistic for Hellendoorn to be part of the ERC.

I remember early 90ies Hellendoorn Rally was a very popular ERC Event (Coef. 10?) with nice entry lists. But I think many things are changed.

Thank you pucky for create this thread. Its not easy to pick out 10 rounds from that list, I think FIA will show us a first calendar in two weeks.

I tried to make a good mix of Asphalt (Barum, Corse, Mille Miglia, Ypres, Asturias) and gravel (Poland, San Marino, Scotland, Bosphorus). Last one I dont remember ... :-) Valais want to be in WRC from 2014 (and they should), Madeira / Acores / Canarias were big events in the 90ies, where money comes from Organizer, but today they are too expensive for ERC. If somebody want to waste money with travel, can go into WRC.

For future, ERC should have every year two new events, instead of the two unpopular rallies of current season (point system made by FIA Observer).

Maybe it's no problem for the big guys. But guys like Smits, Van Hoof etc. are regular drivers in the championship, but can't use their cars if it would be ERC.

But OK, i don't think that will be the case in the next 5 years

I think it's easier to get P. Nobre to be a world rally champion than get the FIA to read our needs

One of them was this Galician rally: 48 Rallye Internacional Rías Baixas 2012
It will be included some year in the new ERC if the FIA obeys our needs for 2013, then Loeb participates (without win it) in the Championship and after that Eurosport is changed for NOS as promoter of the ERC.

Seriously, is one of the oldest rallies in Spain, included in its Championship. FIA Observer was Ludek Kopecký, who showed satisfaction with the development of the event. He also stated that this event can stand along other events in Spain that counts towards the European Rally.

    Ref the other poll:

Sorry, must blame my secretary for not picking that one up !
    San Remo is in.

But you forgot almost all the suggestions to include something from the North of Europe, and by that getting in a winter rally. If the new and refurbished ERC is to attract drivers from the north, there has to be some rallies up north in ERC I think. Hard to get sponsorship locally, if no display locally !

If ERC is to be new, it might need some new rallies as well!

Lets compare notes of the two polls in the end !

    Yeah lets see...
So Jänner is first event confirmed and will start the season of the "new" European Rally Championship in 2013
I guess there will be no second winter event...

I hope it stays at a maximum of 12, and I hope the scoring regulations are kept simple. I don't like dropped scores, it makes to too complicated to understand for the general public. On the other hand a 12 event calendar is difficult to afford for privateers. Thoughts guys?

When the WRC has only 12/13 rounds, does a European series need 12?

I get the feeling they’re trying to start almost from new – so why run before they can walk? How about 8 top quality events – all over Europe. It could be a great series, providing it’s run correctly. Will Eurosport be wanting silly money for an event? Also, all events have to have the same TV coverage – the one criticism of the IRC was the hit & miss coverage. The Live events were great – the others were pretty poor.
