[FR][Official] Welcome to the Volant 207 !!
Hi,
It was discussed since several months already, that Peugeot-Sport will replace the current 206 Rally Cup in 2009 by the newly developped 207 R3T, and from today it's official !!!!
Press-release in english:

In the same time the 207 will be available to customers who want to run with it in the same spirit as Renault with the Clio R3 and Honda with the Civic TypeR...
Looks exciting and I hope several foreign drivers will run the french cup in 2009 like the previous years...
Not to miss Stéphane Sarrazin driving the 207 next week at the Critérium des Cévennes as "00" car

I am only concerned about engine power...180HP is way to weak compared with new kit for clio R3 (stronger engine) or civic R3 (about 240HP)...but it can be great car to compete with new weaker clio R3 Access (205HP engine + sequential gearbox, "group N" suspension) or C2 R2 (Max).

I think that 180 Hp is only basic version for 207 Cup. I heard about some 260 Hp possible from this engine under R3T regulations. Of course much more expensive than 20 tousand Euro. I asume a price of 90-100 tousand for full R3T version in the future.

Great if Peugeot Poland is also thinking about a 207 Cup for next year

Interesting data !!! At the rallye du Var, Stéphane Sarrazin said he would have finished 12th overall in his "00" 207 RC if his times had been officially registered !!!! Not bad

Especially when you see the winner of 206 Cup(Franck Véricel)finishing 26th overall...

After France and Spain, Peugeot-Sport Italy officialized today its 207 RC rally Cup for 2009(tarmac events only)at the Bologna Motorshow

I hope more european countries will organize their 207 rally cup again
Why not Poland or Norway where there's already a 206 cup this year, for example...

In direct from Bologna Motorshow

What's really great idea is that all 207 RCs from all countries having their cup will be technically identical(including FIA homologation rules)meaning that for example an italian driver will be able to buy a car in Spain or France to run his home cup...

In order to prepare his season of the Volant 207, Damien Daumas will run the next Rallye Monté-Carlo/IRC09 in that car

It looks like it'll be the first car delivered by Peugeot-Sport...

According to this month "Rallyes Magazine" Peugeot-Sport would have sold until today 27 kits of 207, including only 7 outside of France !!!!

I would have expected more foreign drivers/teams to buy the 207 RC(especially with Italy and Spain having their own cup with that car this year)...
