No sir! You may want to narrow it down to its continent

Bingo!!
Clue: The country is on the path of the Niger River but the river itself does not represent a natural borderLast edited by Mr Alca-Tazizzle; 10th May 12 at 21:03.

^^^A pretty good guess but you are too far south. I realize this is a pretty obscure Q about an obscure country with an even more obscure capitol.
This next clue may be helpful: This country has within its borders the source of the Niger River. Those who believe in telekinetics raise my hand.

No idea about it's capital though...

No it s not! Moving along:
The Niger River is the principal river of western Africa, extending about 4,180 km (2,600 mi). Its drainage basin is 2,117,700 km2 (817,600 sq mi) in area. Its source is in the ###### Highlands in southeastern ######. It runs in a crescent through Mali, Niger, on the border with Benin and then through Nigeria, discharging through a massive delta, known as the Niger Delta or the Oil Rivers, into the Gulf of ###### in the Atlantic Ocean. Those who believe in telekinetics raise my hand.

No you're down south of Gabon. I know this is a tough q and I will probably settle for the country, if no one gets it by the start of Sat morning test I will surrender the answer, unless there are objections. FYI; The more I look into this the more amazing it seems in a meteorological sense. The capital city is on the coast of the Atlantic, and the source appears to be very close to the coastline. This leads me to believe that there is a ridge very close to the shoreline making the eastern escarpment of the ridge the beginning of the source. That part is speculation because I haven't looked at a topo map.

I'm confused. I looked up the answer on t' net and the answer I found was a different country from the one being described here. The two countries border one another so presumably have similar climates.

OK I'm throwing in the towel.
My source NationMaster - Interesting Facts > Geography
asserts: Guinea has the wettest capital (Conakry) on Earth, with 3.7 metres of rain a year.
However I have been made aware of: Monrovia - Getting There, Getting Around, Tourism, For Further Study
which claims a higher annual total.
I hope it was as good for you as t was for me. I’ll just grab my coat on the way out!

It was an interesting Q Doc. I think you just over-estimated our collective geo-wisdom
.
How about I throw in a Q to keep things moving. I know how much you all enjoy airport codes, but I think I’ll take a break from that riveting line of questioning and pose the following brain-teaser:
Where is the Durupinar feature located, and why is it so interesting?“If everything's under control, you're going too slow.” Mario Andretti
