John Lennon
RIP
Yet another contribution to the world from our American cousins, wonder what he'd have to say about Iraq and Bush?

My Girlfriend's (at the time) 21st birthday. Sort of put a damper on the day.

I remember hearing the news like it was yesterday, and there being a sad and subdued atmosphere when I arrived in college. The whole feeling was heightened because the College was in Henley, where George Harrison lived, and the press were at the gates to his house most of the day.
Part of my childhood was taken away from me on that day
but we still have Lennon's music, most of which remains as relevant as the day it was written.
Rest in peace John

I was 8, and didn't appreciate Lennon's contribution to musical history nor the gravity of the news. Now with the benefit of old age - sorry, wisdom - at least I can enjoy his legacy.

I wasn't born! I like being young here... I usually feel like the old one!

I was fast approaching my 12th birthday and remember the news like it was yesterday. As Dave says, with the onset of erm 'wisdom' we have the ability to realise what a talent was so cruely taken from us 26 years ago.
RIP John.

All we are saying is give peace a chance
I was already living in Manhattan and was watching "Monday Night Football" when the news was given to us.
The next morning, I could swear that every new yorker on the streets had the saddest look in their eyes.
John Lennon was part of the city landscape and I recall that every time you would see him walking through central Park with his wife Yoko, no New Yorker would bother him for autographs - we just let him be- we didn't want to scare him away, he was part of us - and like it's been mentioned already, John Lennon still is a part of us and his messages still have relevance today.
Thanks John.

There's room at the top they are telling us still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill

So waht the hell am I supposed to do?
Oily - thumbs up
One of my favorites . . . .
Honest and gut wrenching rock & roll . . .
JOHN LENNON lyrics - "I'm Losing You"
Here in some stranger's room,
Late in the afternoon,
What am I doing here at all?
Ain't no doubt about it,
I'm losing you,
Somehow the wires have crossed,
Communication's lost,
Can't even get you on the telephone,
Just got to shout about it,
I'm losing you,
Here in the valley of indecision,
I don't know what to do,
I feel you sliping away,
I feel you sliping away,
I'm losing you,
I'm losing you,
You say your not getting enough,
But I remind you of all that bad stuff,
So waht the hell am I supposed to do?
Just put a bandaid on it?
And stop the bleeding now,
Stop the bleeding now,
I know I hurt you then,
But that was way back when,
And well, do you still have to carrey that cross?
Don't want to hear about it,
I'm losing you,
I'm losing you.Without sharing there can be no justice,
Without justice there can be no peace,
Without peace there can be no future.
